MicroRSS

Getting started

Add a feed

Paste a site, feed or platform link into Add Feed. MicroRSS finds the feed, or builds one from the page when the site has none, and fetches it at once.

Open Add feed from the sidebar. There are two fields: Feed URL and Category.

Into Feed URL goes any of these:

  • the address of a feed (…/feed, …/rss.xml, an Atom feed);
  • the address of a site or an article on it — MicroRSS reads the page and finds the feeds it declares;
  • a link to a platform it reads itself: a Telegram channel, a Bluesky profile, a GitHub repository's issues, a subreddit, a YouTube channel and the others on the Built-in sources pages. Those are recognised from the link alone, without fetching the page.

When the page declares more than one feed, the list shows them and you pick. The feed is fetched the moment you add it, so the first entries appear right away. If the first fetch fails, nothing is added and the error says why.

When no feed is found

MicroRSS tries the usual feed addresses even when the page cannot be read, and says what happened: the site put a bot check in front of the page, the page is gone, the address answered with an error. If a feed exists somewhere on the site, paste its own address.

If the site has no feed at all, use build one from the page: the page feed wizard shows the page's repeated items, you choose the ones to follow, and MicroRSS serves them as a feed of its own.

Pick from the catalogue

With nothing typed, the form offers Browse the feed catalogue: working feeds by topic, polled by MicroRSS, which you can follow one by one or as a whole collection. See Feed catalogue.

Categories

A feed sits in one category; the sidebar groups feeds by it. Pick an existing category or type a new name. Categories are yours to rename and reorder later from the sidebar.

The feed count

The form shows how many feeds you follow against your plan's limit, for example «27 / 30 feeds». At the limit the Add button is disabled; remove a feed or move to a larger plan.
