Plans and limits
Free and Pro side by side, feeds, refresh interval, history, the crawler, manual refreshes and API keys, what happens at a limit, and how to move to Pro.
The two plans
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Feeds | 30 | 500 |
| Refresh interval | every hour | every 10 minutes |
| History kept | 30 days | 180 days |
| Full-text crawler | no | yes |
| Manual refreshes | 20 per hour | 200 per hour |
| API keys | no | 3 |
The same table, with the price, is on the front page. The numbers here are checked against the engine's own limits, so they are what you get.
What a limit does
- Feeds: Add Feed shows the count, «27 / 30 feeds», and the Add button is disabled at the limit. An OPML import or a catalogue Follow all stops there and reports it. Nothing already subscribed is touched.
- Refresh interval is the floor of the engine's schedule: a feed is never fetched more often than that for you, however often it posts. The engine may fetch it more often for another reader on a higher plan, and you get those entries too.
- History kept is how long a read entry stays; see Unread, read and bookmarks. Bookmarks are not counted.
- Full-text crawler and scraper rules are a Pro feature; the checkbox is visible but disabled on the free plan. Rewrite rules are open to everyone.
- Manual refreshes are counted per hour; past the budget the refresh button answers with the time to wait, and the feed is still fetched on its schedule.
- API keys: see API keys.
Moving to Pro
Pro is 5 USD a month. Write to [email protected] from the address of your account and say which account to upgrade; the plan is switched by hand for now. Settings → Account shows your current plan.
A plan that expires drops the account back to free: nothing is deleted, the limits simply apply again. Feeds over the count are kept and refreshed; you cannot add more until you are under it.
