Feed catalogue

Following collections

Follow one feed from the catalogue or a whole collection as a category. What «working feed» means, what the first view shows, and what the plan limit does.

What is listed

The catalogue is organised by topic: a category such as Technology, with collections inside it such as AI or Web. Every feed in it is polled by the engine like any subscription, so the list shows only feeds that answer and have posted recently. A feed that breaks or falls silent leaves the list on its own; a feed that posts rarely is listed with a note saying so. Each row links the site, names the host and the posting rate in words, and shows the feed's own address for any other reader.

Following

With a MicroRSS account, every row has Follow and every collection Follow all:

  • Follow subscribes you to that feed, into a category of your reader named after the collection; an existing category with that name is reused.
  • Follow all subscribes you to every feed the collection shows, into the same category.

The feeds are not fetched again on the spot: they are already polled, so the subscription opens with the feed's twenty newest entries as unread and goes on from there.

Without an account the buttons lead to the login page; the catalogue itself is public.

The plan limit

A collection can hold more feeds than your plan allows. Follow all stops at the limit and tells you how far it got; the feeds already subscribed stay. The limits are on the plans page.

Leaving a collection

A collection is only a category once followed. Unsubscribe from a feed in its Danger Zone, or delete the category from the sidebar to drop them all.
