Feeds

Feed settings

Every tab of a feed's settings: General, Source or Page Feed, Original Content, Cover Image, Image Archive, Danger Zone, and the administrator's Network tab.

Open a feed, then Edit Feed in the top bar's menu. The settings are in tabs on the left.

General

  • Title is yours; the feed's own title is the default.
  • Category files the feed in the sidebar.
  • Feed URL is the address the engine reads. For a built-in source it is shown read-only with the source's name under it, and the Source tab edits it; for a plain feed you can change it by hand, and MicroRSS fetches the new address at once, carrying your read and bookmarked entries over by their links.
  • Site URL is where the feed's title links.
  • Pause updates stops refreshing this feed for you. Entries already there stay; untick to resume.
  • The fetch log at the bottom, folded under «the last fetches and why nothing new», is explained under Refresh and the fetch log.

Network Settings

Shown to the administrator only. A feed is fetched once for everyone who follows it, so the User Agent it is fetched with and whether the HTTP cache is ignored belong to the feed, not to a subscription.

Source, or Page Feed

A feed read by a built-in source shows a Source tab with the source's options, when it has any; a feed built from a page shows Page Feed with the selectors. Each is explained on its own page: Built-in sources, Page feeds.

Original Content

The crawler, scraper rules and rewrite rules: Full article text and Rewrite and scraper rules.

Cover Image

Which picture the list shows for an entry. By default it is the first image in the entry; a CSS selector with an Attribute names another element and the attribute holding the address, for feeds that carry their picture in an unusual place.

Image Archive

Keep the images of this feed's entries on MicroRSS's server rather than loading them from the site each time. For a site that blocks hotlinking, or removes images after a while, the archive keeps the entry whole.

Danger Zone

Unsubscribe removes the feed from your account with its entries, read state and bookmarks. The feed itself stays in the engine for the other readers who follow it.
