MicroRSS

Feeds the site has but never links to

RSS feeds of news sites that never link to them

Most large news sites still publish RSS, but the page does not say so, and some of them — The Economist, The New York Times, Phoronix, Dark Reading — put a bot check in front of every page a feed reader asks for, so a reader that looks for the feed in the page finds nothing. The feeds themselves answer freely.

MicroRSS knows where these sites keep them. Paste the home page, a section page or an article and it subscribes to the feed for that section: the site's own RSS, with its own titles and dates.

Questions

Does The Economist have an RSS feed?
Yes, one per section at /<section>/rss.xml, plus /latest/rss.xml for everything. The pages are behind a bot check for readers, the feeds are not; MicroRSS maps any Economist link to the right one.
Does The New York Times have RSS feeds?
Yes, on rss.nytimes.com, one per section. Paste a section page or an article and MicroRSS picks the section's feed.
Why does MicroRSS say «bot check» for some sites?
The site answered the reader with a challenge page instead of the article page, so there was nothing to read. The site's feed, if it has one, usually still works — paste its address, or one of the links MicroRSS knows.
