RSS feed for a Mastodon account

Every Mastodon instance serves an RSS feed for each account at the profile address plus .rss, and so do Pleroma, Akkoma and most of the Fediverse. The profile page does not link to it. MicroRSS turns the profile link, or the @user@instance address, into that feed.

Posts arrive with their text and attached images; boosts and replies are not in the instance's feed, which keeps it to the account's own posts.

What you get

  • The account's own posts, with images and content warnings as the instance renders them
  • Works for a profile link on any instance, or the @user@instance address people share
  • The account's display name as the feed title and its avatar as the icon
  • No account of your own on that instance, nothing to follow

How to add it

  1. 1
    Copy the link

Open the Mastodon page you want to follow in your browser and copy its address.

  2. 2
    Paste it into Add Feed

MicroRSS recognises the link and offers the feed; nothing else to fill in.

  3. 3
    Read

New entries arrive on the feed's schedule, with the rest of your subscriptions.

Links that work

  • https://mastodon.social/@Gargron a profile link
  • https://fosstodon.org/users/kev the /users/ spelling

Questions

Does Mastodon have RSS?
Yes: every instance serves <profile URL>.rss for each account. MicroRSS finds it from the profile link.
Which instances work?
Any Mastodon, Pleroma or Akkoma instance that serves the account feed, which is nearly all of them. MicroRSS checks the feed before adding it.
